A 13-year-old boy was killed when a Mini Cooper plowed into him as he rode his bike.

A THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD BOY was killed when he was struck by a Mini Cooper while he was bicycling.

Jake Day was struck by a blue Mini saloon at 1.25 p.m. on February 23 while riding his bike in Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire.

Jake was taken to the hospital with life-threatening head injuries and he later passed away over the weekend, despite the quick response of emergency services.

Jake attended the Co-Op Academy, and they released a statement saying, “As an academy, we are sad to have to share the devastating news that the brother of a child in our school passed away over the weekend.

Katie-Louise Day’s older sibling, Jake Day, died of complications over the weekend while sleeping.

In memory of Jake, the students and faculty of Jake’s sixth grade class at our academy will be joining together to send a sympathy card to Katie-Louise and her family.

This news was shared with the sixth graders today per the parents’ request.

In a statement after the collision, West Yorkshire Police said: “Police are appealing for information following a serious road traffic collision in Kirklees yesterday.

“At 1.25 o’clock, police were called to the intersection of Leeds Road and Muffit Lane in Heckmondwike in reference to a collision involving a blue Mini Cooper saloon and a boy on a pedal cycle.

The emergency services arrived, and the adolescent was hospitalized with life-threatening head injuries. The Mini’s driver has been confronted.
