Former Premier League player Barton, of Widnes, Cheshire, was said to be enraged after one of his players was sent off in a 4-2 defeat.

His BMW was stopped from leaving the ground by a steward and a cop.

He was later arrested after Barnsley reported the alleged incident to South Yorkshire Police.
