“There isn’t a lot of poetic license here.” I did mаke а few minor chаnges to the story thаt were lаrgely unimportаnt. But people’s perceptions of it, or whаt they cаlled it, hаd more to do with them thаn with whаt it wаs. ”

Arlo Guthrie revealed how Vietnam War soldiers reacted to his most famous song “You know, we sold as many records of ‘Alice’s Restaurant’ through the PX [U.S.] as we did through the PX [U.S.].” “We did the same thing in record stores as we did in the U.S. Army’s Post Exchange,” he said. “It was the military guys who were really into it.” “Those guys in Vietnam were playing it over there, laughing their butts off — because they’d been through it,” he added. “They could tell I wasn’t lying..” To others, it appeared that Arlo was commenting on something. But I wasn’t really making a comment. I was just telling you about something that happened to me. In that sense, it wasn’t so much an anti-war song as an anti-stupidity song. ”аtch?v=jNBurHDrZwM
