Due to Covid-related heart problems, PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG will miss Gabon’s match against Ghana.
After testing positive for COVID-19, Arsenal midfielder Aubameyang was ruled out of his country’s Group C opener against Comoros on Monday.
The Gabonese federation announced that star striker Axel Meye, as well as Nice’s Mario Lemina, will miss today’s match at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium.
All three were recently diagnosed with coronavirus, and recent medical exams revealed that the virus is causing minor heart problems.
As a result, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) was adamant about not taking any chances.
The Gabonese Federation tweeted“According to the CAF medical commission, the players Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Axel Meye, and Mario Lemina, who have recently left Covid, will not be able to play in this match.”
“Cardiac lesions would be discovered during the exams.” CAF was wary of taking any chances.”
On his arrival in Cameroon for the Copa Africa last week, Aubameyang tested positive for COVID-19.
