Terzic, however, chose to start youngster Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and veteran Anthony Modeste over BVB captain Reus.

After full time, the German-Croatian tactician publicly expressed regret to the playmaker, but he insisted that he must “respect” that choice.

Terzic told DAZN: “Of course I’m deeply sorry.

Marco isn’t the only issue, though. We also had some other guys who weren’t interested.

“He has to respect it. But don’t accept it.

“He can demonstrate that he rejects it tomorrow in practice and the following few games.

However, he must now treat it with respect, just like everyone else.

Reus, one of the first Dortmund players to leave the field following the celebrations, “disappeared” down the tunnel, according to Bild.
