After George Russell chastised Max Verstappen for his “erratic” driving in Baku on Saturday, F1 fans joked about how “posh” he is.
Russell was on the phone with his team principal shortly after the green flag was waved at qualifying for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, complaining about the Dutchman. “Verstappen is driving erratically,” he grumbled to the pit crew.
Other drivers have chastised Verstappen in the past, but F1 fans praised Russell’s handling of the situation. Fans joked that it was the “poshest” criticism of Verstappen’s driving that had been recorded on the mic.
“Russell is so posh what the f*** does erratic mean!” a fan joked, seemingly in need of a dictionary.
“Every driver: ‘Verstappen’s crazy man, he’s all over the f****** place…’ Russell: ‘Excuse me, dear sir, but Verstappen appears to be driving in an erratic manner…’
Russell, 24, was born in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, and grew up in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, where he attended the private Wisbech Grammar School. However, not all of his fans supported him. “Enough with the posh neek George Russell, hope his engine fails,” one viewer commented.
