As the England defender’s contract with Roma expires, Juventus wants to sign the former Manchester United star on a free transfer.

According to reports, Chris Smalling, an ex-defender for Manchester United, is wanted by JUVENTUS on a free transfer.
Smalling, 33, is currently representing Roma for ex-Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho.

The two have achieved great success; they last season won the inaugural Uefa Europa Conference League.
However, his agreement is scheduled to end at the end of June.
Smalling is one of the players Mourinho wants to stay in Rome, according to Tuttosport, but other elite clubs like Juve and Inter Milan are also showing interest in the former England international.
Smalling possesses the qualities Juve are looking for in a defender: “quality, reliability, and experience.”
To replace the legendary Giorgio Chiellini and a “waning” Leonardo Bonucci, he is viewed as a priority.
Wages, however, might end up being a roadblock.
Juve wants to cut down on Smalling’s £3 million annual salary.
Instead, a deal would be sealed with bonuses.
