When the car began to float off the road, they abandoned it.

For a brief period, Lindsy was able to hold onto Kyle, but when she lost her balance, the floodwaters swept him away.

Since then, he has been missing, but Kyle’s father claimed that his wife’s choice to abandon their car was the right one.

When asked about Lindsy’s decision to get out of the car, Kyle’s father Brian Doan said to People, “It would’ve been a death trap if they’d stayed there.”

Brian is certain that the outcome would not have been better if they had remained because investigators told him the car was pushed further down the creek where it was later discovered upside down.

He continued, “Given the circumstances, she made the right choice.”

On Monday, police searched for Kyle for seven hours before the weather got too bad. Later in the week, the search was resumed.

Despite not being able to locate the young boy, investigators did manage to find one of his sneakers.
