Now everyone is wondering who the proud Brummie will face later this year, though UFC president White has apparently already decided that for him.

After the bout, he addressed the media and said, “That’s the fight that makes sense, Colby came over here, cut weight and did everything to be here for this fight.

He’s earned this matchup. Furthermore, he ranks somewhere between second and third among all men.

Covington was the main event’s backup, so he was in the cage to watch Edwards defeat Usman.

Former interim welterweight champion attempted to insert himself into Edwards’ future but was rejected by the current champion.

I don’t see how Colby can sit out a year and then sneak back into a title shot,” he said.

After all my hard work, he’s saying, ‘Who is he?’ but I’m the king. I’ll pick the next victim.

Covington said, “I’m ready to fight tonight as you guys see.

I didn’t whine and make excuses; I just came over here and lost 18 pounds.

In contrast to these amateurs, I always come to a fight prepared.

Within minutes of the main event ending, Covington tweeted, “See you in July @Leon_edwardsmma.”

As soon as Edwards successfully defended his title for the first time, he was effusive in his praise of former pound-for-pound champion Usman for his outstanding striking.

I appreciate him as a competitor very much,” he said.

To paraphrase, “I was going for the head kick, but fair play to him; he had perfect defense.”
