CHELSEA fans were stunned when Ross Barkley was introduced with minutes remaining in the FA Cup final against Liverpool.
In addition, the former Everton midfielder took a penalty AHEAD of Mason Mount.
Barkley stepped up despite not having played since January’s FA Cup match against Chesterfield.
Fortunately for Chelsea, Barkley kept his cool and scored from 12 yards.
Mount, on the other hand, missed the penalty shot as the game entered sudden death mode.
The final was won 6-5 by Liverpool left-back Konstantinos Tsimikas, who sent Edouard Mendy the wrong way.
Jurgen Klopp has now won every trophy available with Liverpool except the Europa League, and a quadruple is still possible this season.
“This Mount Boy doesn’t impress me,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“To him, Ross Barkley is a much better option. Tuchel’s system remains a mystery to me to this day.”
“Mount cost us two cup finals this season,” another tweeted. Barkley got his as well.”
