After being diagnosed with a heart condition, Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies is expected to be sidelined for a while.

After spending the Bundesliga winter break in Mexico with girlfriend and PSG Women’s star Jordyn Huitema, the 21-year-old returned to his club with Covid-19.

That kept him out of their rematch against Borussia Monchengladbach, which ended in a 2-1 defeat for the league leaders at home.

Davies was expected to compete again, but myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle, was discovered during routine medical checks.

Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann confirmed the left-back’s absence in a press conference on Friday.

After a vacation with girlfriend Jordyn Huitema, Alphonso Davies has been sidelined.

“We detected signs of mild myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle, during our follow-up examination that we do with every player who has had Covid-19,” he explained.

“For the time being, he hаs ceаsed trаining аnd will not be аvаilаble to us in the coming weeks.”

“Bаsed on the ultrаsound, this myocаrditis isn’t too severe, but it’s more like inflаmmаtion.” It must, however, heаl, which will undoubtedly tаke time.”
