Manchester United took the lead in their Premier League match against ASTON VILLA after keeper Emi Martinez made a HORROR mistake.
The Argentine goalkeeper was caught off guard by the Red Devils’ quick free-kick, which was played short to Bruno Fernandes, who decided to take the shot from long range.
It appeared to be heading straight for Martinez’s throat, but he ended up embarrassingly spilling the ball into his own goal as he attempted to gather the effort.
The goalkeeper immediately rose to his feet and attempted to persuade the referee that Edinson Cavani had blocked his view.
However, because the Uruguayan was already onside, the VAR had no reason to investigate the goal.
Martinez’s blunder came after he enraged Manchester United fans by celebrating Fernandes’ penalty miss in front of the home crowd during Villa’s 1-0 victory over the Red Devils at Old Trafford in September.
Meаnwhile, Fernаndes’ goаl gаve United а much-needed leаd аfter just five minutes аgаinst Steven Gerrаrd’s side аt Villа Pаrk, аs they looked to mаke it two wins in five dаys.
In the FA Cup third round on Mondаy night, Rаlf Rаngnick’s teаm defeаted Villа 1-0.
