Your birthday determines when you start receiving Social Security retirement benefits, which are distributed three Wednesdays a month.
Your payment will be deposited, for instance, on the second Wednesday of every month if your birthdate falls between the first and the tenth.
It will be deposited on the third Wednesday of every month if your birthdate falls between November 11 and November 20.
And finally, if your birthdate falls between January 21 and December 31, it will be deposited on the fourth Wednesday of every month.

The same routine is typically followed by those receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI).
However, depending on when you started claiming, there are some exceptions, which we discuss below.
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients receive their payments on the first of each month.
However, due to the holiday schedule, SSI claimants received their first COLA payments for 2023 on December 30, 2022.
