F1 fans have chastised Lando Norris for an incident involving Lewis Hamilton that has resulted in an investigation.

Lando Norris has come under fire from Formula One fans for his role in the stewards’ investigation into Lewis Hamilton.

At the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Hamilton is under investigation for exceeding his qualifying target time. On the Baku circuit, McLaren’s Norris appeared to be stuck behind Hamilton, with Norris being told on his team radio that he would be in “trouble” if he slowed down.

“Don’t let him [Hamilton] play silly s***,” the McLaren race engineer said at the end of Q2. He needs to keep an eye on his delta; otherwise, he’ll be in big trouble. He’ll get himself into trouble because he’s the lead car.”

Even though there appeared to be enough room for the younger Brit to pass, Hamilton continued to drive slowly. Fans have taken to social media to criticize Norris for his role in potentially bringing Hamilton a penalty ahead of Sunday’s race.

“Why didn’t Norris just overtake Hamilton?” one fan questioned the McLaren driver.

“Norris could have gone past Hamilton,” a second remarked, “but everyone wants to be in the slipstream.”
