During the scuffle that occurred after the final whistle in Southampton, officers reported that tables, chairs, and glasses were thrown.

Soon after 6 o’clock on Saturday night, police were called to the scene of a disturbance.

Ten men, according to a spokesman for the Hampshire Constabulary, were detained on suspicion of participating in a violent disorder.

Officers are appealing for calm after a brawl broke out between Southampton football fans.

At around 6:05 p.m., police were called to the intersection of Oxford Street and Terminus Terrace due to reports of violence between Southampton and Tottenham fans.

Multiple people were reportedly involved in the chaos, which included the throwing of tables, chairs, and glasses, as well as an assault on a man.

A 61-year-old Bursledon man was injured in the face and taken to the hospital.

According to Deputy Inspector Tim Judd: “This would have been frightening for those who witnessed this incident. Many people who were out and about on a Saturday night probably found themselves in the middle of the chaos that ensued.

We believe the people involved had just left the Southampton FC vs. Tottenham Hotspur game at St. Mary’s Stadium and were on their way out of town when the incident took place.

Anyone with dashcam or cellphone footage is being asked to contact the police.

If you have any information that could aid the police, they asked that you call 101.

Also, “ten people were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and other associated offenses,” they said.

All four of them are from Waltham Cross. Herts., ages 22, 23, 25, and 27; a man from Haringey, London, age 19; a man from London, age 33; a man from Hoddesdon, Herts., age 24; a man from Kings Lynn, Norfolk, age 24; a man from Southampton, Hampshire, age 19; and a man from Bournemouth, Hampshire, age 31.

The police have taken everyone in for questioning at a later time.
