Fernando Llorente, 37, a cult favorite in the Premier League, announces his retirement from football and his decision to play another sport.

Fernando Llorente, a cult favorite in the Premier League, has retired from football at age 37.

The World Cup winner will now try his hand at a different sport by switching from the field to the court.

The former Tottenham man has been without a club since the end of last season

Since leaving Spanish second-division team Eibar at the end of the previous season, Llorente has been without a team.

The striker also announced the end of his football career while saying that he plans to keep active by playing padel, a racket sport that is becoming increasingly popular, particularly in Spain.

Will we ever see you on the field again, Llorente was asked on live television.

The striker, however, retorted, “No, no. I understand everything now.

“I continue to keep fit by playing padel.”

Before joining Juventus on a free transfer in 2013, Llorente spent eight fruitful years in the first team while rising through the ranks at Athletic Bilbao.

He won two Serie A championships, the Coppa Italia, and advanced to the Champions League final in his two seasons with the Old Lady.

He left Turin for Sevilla in 2015, where he won the Europa League, and Swansea in 2016, where he scored 15 goals to keep the Welsh team from being relegated.

Llorente joined Tottenham in 2017 and served primarily as Harry Kane’s backup.

But his contеntious goal in thе thrilling Champions Lеaguе quartеrfinal against Manchеstеr City in 2019 will livе on in North London forеvеr.
