Few events in life are as heartbreakingly tragic as the loss of a cherished pet.
When whiskers or rex pass away, you don’t really receive the same kind of sympathy as when a family member or friend passes away.
However, that didn’t stop one football player from giving his dog the sort of send-off that was fit only for the best good boys after he scored a goal.
Police are looking into the unbelievable own goal, and the football team has dismissed the players.
The grieving star happily risked a yellow card by ripping off his jersey to reveal a t-shirt with a photo of his recently deceased pooch on it after rifling the ball home from a tight angle to give his side a 2-0 lead.
The player then motioned for his teammates to stop their celebration so the cameras could get a good view of the picture. However, just to be safe, he ran over to the pitch-side camera on the halfway line.
His coworkers rushed over to offer words of sympathy and a few consoling hugs as he lifted his t-shirt to his lips and planted a loving kiss on the picture while gazing upwards. He was clearly heartbroken.
By the time he put his shirt back on, he was crying, which is completely understandable for anyone who has ever lost a pet.
