For a shocking reason, Joy-Anna Duggar says she “wishes” filming on Counting On had ended sooner and that she “doesn’t miss” being on the show.
Counting On star JOY-ANNA Duggar has revealed the unexpected reason she wanted the show to end sooner than it did.
In a video for her family’s YouTube channel, Joy-Anna answered questions from fans and explained her decision.

A viewer asks, “Do you miss the TV show?” seven minutes into the clip.
“Um, I do not miss the TV show,” she said. Even though I know it was best for everyone involved, I miss working with the film crew we had.
Seeing some of those guys every week and then not seeing them for a while was really strange for me because I’ve known some of them since I was six.
Our family was better off without the TV on at that time.
I agree that it would have been better if we had ended production earlier, but I don’t miss the show itself (or the crew that made it).
From 2008 until 2015, viewers could watch the Duggar family on TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting. Then, from 2015-2020, there was a spin-off series titled Counting On.
MISSING THE DUGGARS
Joy-Anna may be relieved that the show is over, but her YouTube viewers have expressed gratitude for the length of time she kept it going.
A fan wrote, “I know you are glad the TV show ended, but the impact your family and values have had on countless individuals is tremendous. Because of your family, my kids understand the importance of dating for a cause.
One more commented, “Thank you for the Q&A, it’s always wonderful to get to know you a little more. After working together for so many years, I can only imagine how much you and the crew must miss one another.
A third chimed in: “I have loved your family from the first day they were introduced to the world. No one has a flawless family. I just wanted to tell you how much I’ve enjoyed seeing you mature into an incredible human being.
Another viewer said, “We miss the show but understand doing what’s best for your family. “I’m just happy to see you on this screen.
QUIT BEING MODEST
During the same question-and-answer session, the reality TV star revealed that, contrary to what she had been taught, she does not find wearing pants to be impolite.
In addition, she decided to address the question, “What made you decide to wear pants and jeans?” during the session.
Joy-Anna paused for a moment before answering, “Austin and I prayed about this for a long time, and I think we had the first conversation within the first year of our marriage.”
Three to four years of “studying and reading the Bible and digging in deep,” she said, was part of their journey.
She continued, “Honestly, I’d always worn skirts my whole life, and so for me, I wasn’t in a rush.
After further reflection, she affirmed, “So really the last year we prayed about it and felt like there wasn’t anything in scripture – there isn’t anything in scripture – that’s black and white on dress.
It emphasizes the importance of dressing modestly, but I believe that it is possible to do so while still wearing pants.
I think basically we just looked through scripture for a long time and feel like this is okay for our family and where we’re at,” the Duggar said.
