Jurgen Klopp’s comments on Ralf Rangnick, the new manager of Manchester United, show what fans can expect.

As the former RB Leipzig manager awaits his unveiling as Manchester United’s interim manager, Jurgen Klopp says Ralf Rangnick is “one of the best, if not the best German coach” in the world. Rangnick has agreed to a six-month contract with the Athletic until the end of May, and will leave his position as head of sports and development at Lokomotiv Moscow, according to the Athletic. The 63-year-old is currently negotiating his release from the Russian club, but it is expected that he will not be in charge for Sunday’s match against Chelsea. In the meantime, United are still looking for a permanent manager, with Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag the front-runners for the summer. Rangnick, who was in talks with Chelsea about taking over as interim manager after Frank Lampard was fired in January, has also agreed to a two-year consultancy role with United. In Germany, he is regarded as the “godfather” of modern coaching. Rangnick’s methods influenced Klopp, as well as Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel and Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann, as German coaching undergoes a renaissance throughout Europe. Rangnick popularized Gegenpressing, a tactic now associated with Klopp’s teams, and the Reds boss even sought advice from his mentor while considering moves for Leipzig stars Ibrahimia Konate and Dayot Upamecano last year. Who do you think is the best German manager in the world?
