Firerose is a singer-songwriter who, according to her website, was raised by “a family of symphony musicians” in Sydney, Australia. Like most aspiring musicians these days, she relocated to Los Angeles to further her music career.

On her website, she wrote that she has had a “lifelong passion for songwriting,” and that she has always thought that music fulfills her purpose in life. … Giving something meaning by lifting people up with a song I wrote. I write from a mysterious place in my soul, and I’m eternally grateful for this gift that enables me to affect people so deeply.

Firerose has been influenced by many musicians since she was a young child, but Sia, Alanis Morisette, and Australian rock bands like Powderfinger, INXS, and Silverchair are among her greatest influences.

According to Firerose’s statement on her website, “I felt something cutting edge from the music of those artists that I listened to growing up that spoke to me deeply and cut through the noise of all the classical music I was surrounded by.”

The Australian singer said on her website that “New Day” came to her “a few years ago when I was going through some brutal personal stuff” in reference to her chart-topping song with her collaborator-turned-lover.

“I can genuinely say that the only thing that kept me breathing was writing songs. As things grew more difficult, I kept listening to it and it gave me hope for the future,” Firerose continued. “Once that time was over, I set it aside… Then, when the pandemic struck, I reasoned that this is the moment when a song of hope and rebirth is most needed. Now that a new day has been promised, we can all finally rejoice.

On Sept. Billy Ray and Firerose, both 29, have reportedly been “dating for a little while,” according to a source who also revealed that they “grew close while working on music together.”
