Napoli has rejected Arsenal’s £51 million bid for striker Victor Osimhen, as the Italians demand a club-record fee.

According to reports, Arsenal’s transfer bid for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen was rejected.

The 23-year-old striker is on Arsenal’s shortlist to replace Alexandre Lacazette, who will depart this summer.

Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu are looking into attacking options, with Osimhen and Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus at the top of the list.

However, according to Italian publication Il Mattino, Napoli has rebuffed a £51 million opening bid.

After purchasing Osimhen for £69 million in 2020, the Serie A club is reportedly demanding £85 million to let him go.

Since then, he has scored 28 goals in 62 games for Napoli, and Arsenal will have to up their offer to land him.

However, given their other summer targets, the north Londoners may be hesitant to spend too much money on Osimhen.

Arteta is said to be frustrated by the club’s hesitancy in signing Jesus, having failed to match City’s £50 million asking price so far.

The Gunners could also swoop for Marco Asensio, who is expected to reject a new contract offer from Real Madrid, allowing him to leave with only one year remaining on his current contract.

Arsenal are said to be interested in Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Arteta wants to upgrade his midfield and could cost £42 million.

Youri Tielemans of Leicester is also on the Spaniard’s radar, and if Arsenal let Granit Xhaka leave, a deal could be struck.

A move to Bayer Leverkusen has been rumored for the former captain.
