The flying winger, who received an MBE this summer for his work on racial equality, is one of seven guests who will take over the show the week after Christmas. Raheem Sterling, the England and Man City footballer, will guest edit BBC Radio 4’s Today programme.


Raheem, 26, is expected to devote his edition to subjects close to his heart, such as helping disadvantaged children. “Each year, the guest editors bring novel ideas, surprising perspectives, and, on occasion, a little sparkle to the program,” Today editor Owenna Griffiths said. “This year is no exception, and I’m delighted that these guests have agreed to spend time with us to help illuminate and make sense of the world we live in.”

For 64 years, the flagship news and current affairs program has been broadcast.
