Report: Barcelona makes a €63 million offer to Xavi’s top defensive target.

Jules Kounde of Sevilla has emerged as one of coach Xavi’s top summer transfer targets, along with Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich. Barcelona has made a bid for Kounde.

According to a Partido Unico report, the Catalan giants have offered to pay €23 million to take Kounde on an initial loan with the deal including a mandatory purchase option of €40 million (to be paid in two years).

On Zoom, Barcelona and Sevilla’s top officials got together on June 21 to “seriously” discuss the transfer. Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona, spoke with Pepe Castro, the president of Sevilla, and Monchi, the director of sports.

The deal will also benefit the Catalans who are continuing to work despite ongoing financial difficulties as the Andalusians are not in a rush to sell Kounde but like the structure of the deal proposed by Barcelona and are thought to “see this payment option favorably.”

According to Sam Marsden and Moises Llorens at ESPN, Xavi has made acquiring a “top center-back this summer” a priority. Kounde is valued at €60 million and has drawn interest from Chelsea of the Premier League.

Barcelona Also Make Lewandowski Offer

According to Fabrizio Romano for the Guardian, Barcelona has also made a bid for Lewandowski. The 33-year-old has received an offer from the Catalan giants of €35 million plus €5 million in add-on, but Bayern is anticipated to reject the offer.

Despite Lewandоwski’s repeated public declaratiоns that he wants tо leave the team befоre his cоntract expires in 2023, the Bavarian giants cоntinue tо hоld оut hоpe that he will stay thrоugh the final year оf his agreement.
