This weekend, the Washington Football Team will pay tribute to one of their all-time great players. Taylor’s No. 21 jersey was retired by Washington on Thursday, making him only the third player in the team’s 89-year history to receive the honor. Before Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Washington will formally commemorate the renaming of the road leading to FedEx Field as Sean Taylor Road with family and friends. “I entered the NFL the same year as Sean Taylor, and his athletic ability, resilience, grit, and relentless work ethic immediately set him apart.”

In a press release, Washington Football Team President Jason Wright said, “I and many others looked to him as a role model.” “His tragic death at such a young age harmed not only our player community, but also our fans, coaches, and staff.” We will remember him and hold him up as a model of professionalism and excellence, and we will all strive to emulate his success in our own unique ways. ”
