Shocking car crash in Scarsdale, New York, claims the lives of five kids between the ages of 8 and 17, leaving only one boy alive.

Police say a teen driver crashed into a tree, causing the car to catch fire and kill five children inside.

The fatal car crash occurred on a Sunday morning in New York, but the victims all hailed from nearby Connecticut.

Police believe a 16-year-old boy was behind the wheel when his car careened off the Hutchinson River Parkway in Scarsdale and crashed into a tree, starting a fire.

The victims ranged from eight to 17 years old.

A nine-year-old boy was the only person to escape, according to the police.

Police spokesman Kieran O’Leary said the child “apparently was riding in the rear hatchback/cargo area and escaped out the rear.” The child was nine years old.
