Niall Horan, an Irish pop star, and Vice President Joe Biden share a St. Patrick’s Day smile.

During the festivities at the White House, the 29-year-old ex-Member of One Direction sang a lullaby to Mr. Biden, 80, who is of Irish descent.

According to the singer from Story Of My Life, “it’s a major honor for me to be here.”

To further mock American pronunciation of St. Patrick’s Day, the singer added, “Happy Paddy’s Day, and for all the Americans here that’s with two Ds not two Ts.”

The One Direction singer began his set in the East Room with, “Thank you very much for having me here.

“As a proud Irishman who has traveled the world, it is a great honor for me to be here, so I appreciate your confidence in me.

There are a lot of great Irish singers in the world, so it’s humbling to be selected to represent my country on the biggest stages.

Before performing Flicker and This Town, Niall debuted his new single Heaven.
