The Dallas Cowboys announced on Thursday, January 13 that personnel czar Will McClay had been re-signed to a new contract despite the annual NFL buzz.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network first broke the news of the signing.

“#Cowboys VP of Player Personnel Will McClay is one of the top GM candidates who hasn’t gotten much attention.” Rapoport tweeted on Thursday, “From what I understand, he’s expected to stay in Dallas, with the team nearing a deal to keep him.” “The Cowboys will make a significant move.”

McClay’s pact hasn’t been made public yet, but it’s likely to include a sizable pay raise. But one thing is certain: the agreement guarantees McClay’s stay in Dallas, putting an end to outside suitors for the second time.

Other organizations with open GM positions had expressed interest in McClay, according to WFAA’s Mike Leslie.
