The Golden Globes recognized “The Banshees of Inisherin” as Best Picture – Musical or Comedy.

Los Angeles, California: After winning the 80th annual Golden Globes award for Best Picture – Musical/Comedy, the Martin McDonagh-directed film “The Banshees of Inisherin” undoubtedly won the hearts of the audience when it was first released in 2022. With eight nominations, the black comedy, which was shot on Inis Mor and Achill Island, had led the shortlist. McDonagh has previously won a Golden Globe, though.

Additionally, on September 5, 2022, “Banshees of Inisherin” had its world premiere at the 79th Venice International Film Festival, where McDonagh won the Golden Osella for Best Screenplay and Colin Farrell took home the Volpi Cup for Best Actor. Not only that, but after the movie’s release, critics praised the entire cast’s performances, director Martin McDonagh’s screenplay and direction, Carter Burwell’s music, and McDonagh’s direction. The National Board of Review also named it among the top movies of 2022.
