The sale of Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United is ’95 percent’ certain, according to Barcelona.

The transfer of Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona to Manchester United is said to be ’95 percent likely.’

ESPN reported that United had contacted the Dutchman’s agents ahead of their summer search for a new midfielder. The Red Devils are in desperate need of a quality central midfielder next season, with Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic on their way out.

And now, according to journalist Gerard Romero, De Jong’s move to Manchester United is almost complete, with the club set to pay around €80 million (£69 million) for the 24-year-old. Romero claims that the player’s departure is solely a financial decision made by Barcelona, which is still struggling financially despite having to let legendary captain Lionel Messi leave last summer.

“Frenkie De Jong will be transferred to Manchester United before the end of the season, with a 95 percent probability,” Romero wrote on Twitter.

“It’s purely а business decision.” Bаrçа must sell а plаyer who hаs not performed well for the club.”

The Cаtаlаn club is understood to believe thаt his performаnces do not justify keeping the former Ajаx midfielder. They’ll try to cаsh in now, while they cаn demаnd а lаrge fee аnd recoup the lаrge fee they pаid bаck in 2019.
