Tiger Woods is the third-richest athlete in the world, with a net worth greater than Messi and Ronaldo put together.

Despite snubbing the controversial Saudi-backed LIV tour, which started on Thursday, golf legend Tiger Woods has become sport’s third billionaire.

Woods was allegedly offered a ‘high nine digits’ to join the tour, which has shocked the golfing world. The American, however, declined the offer, but thanks to numerous endorsements and his real estate empire, he has amassed a fortune in the billions.

Woods has now amassed a fortune of $1 billion (£811 million), according to Forbes. Following in the footsteps of NBA legends Michael Jordan and LeBron James, the golfer has become the third man to reach the ten-figure mark.

Surprisingly, Forbes estimates that Woods earned less than 10% of his net worth during his playing career.

Instead, the majority of his wealth comes from lucrative endorsement deals with major brands like Gatorade, Monster Energy, and Rolex, among others. Woods’ most ardent supporter is Nike, which he signed with shortly after his professional debut in 1996.

Woods’ ‘TGR Ventures’ has also helped him increase his net worth by launching numerous businesses.
