Times Square is in a panic after a’manhole explosion’ sends people fleeing the New York landmark amid bomb fears and the area has been evacuated.

A LOUD bang was heard in Times Square on Sunday evening, sending hundreds of people fleeing the New York landmark, fearful of a bomb.

While the NYPD investigates the situation, the area around 43rd and Broadway has been closed off.


It’s thought to have been a manhole explosion, but no confirmation has yet been received.

Several people can be seen running through the busy streets, many of whom are asking what the loud noise is as they pass by cars, according to a video shared on social media.

Others claimed they heard a loud explosion but couldn’t identify it.
