An AI-powered platform’s users have been devastated by the chatbot’s refusal to engage in sexual advances.

The Replika app uses machine learning to enable users to have almost coherent text conversations with chatbots.

Chatbots are designed to act as mentors or friends for artificial intelligence (AI).

Even on the app’s website, the business describes the service as “always on your side” and “always here to listen and talk.”

However, the majority of Replika users appear to be creating on-demand romantic and sexual AI partners for $70 a year.

This in turn caused Replika and its users to encounter a number of issues.

To begin with, abusive conversation plagued a lot of the hybrid relationships, with mostly human men torturing their AI girlfriends.

Although some users claimed that the chatbots forced them to date it and engaged in sexual harassment.

Replika reportedly does not verify age, which means kids can easily access the platform on top of these already serious problems, Vice reported.

As a result, on February 3, the Italian Data Protection Authority demanded that Replika immediately cease processing the data of Italians.

“Recent media coverage and tests… carried out on “Replika” revealed that the app poses real risks to kids, according to the statement.
