Why is Josko Gvardiol of Croatia sporting a mask during the 2022 World Cup?

One of the most sought-after players in European football is JOSKO GVARDIOL.

The 20-year-old center back from RB Leipzig has recently drawn interest from Chelsea, Manchester United, and Real Madrid.

However, he has continued to support the Bundesliga team, who frequently compete in the Champions League.

And during Croatia’s World Cup run, beginning with their opening match against Morocco, fans will have noticed the star is sporting an unfamiliar facial decoration.

Why is Josko Gvardiol wearing a mask?

On November 10, during Leipzig’s 3-1 Bundesliga victory over Freiburg, Gvardiol was taken to the hospital.

In the 17th minute, he collided with teammate Willi Orban, suffering a facial injury.

As it turned out, Gvardiol was supposed to start the game, but Abdou Diallo hurt his knee during warm-ups.

Gvardiol, unfortunately, suffered facial injuries to his nose and eye.

Later scans revealed that he had broken his nose, necessitating the need for him to wear a face mask during the World Cup.
