9/11 Families Charge Trump with Betraying Country for Saudi Money

Family members of 9/11 terror attack victims demonstrated outside former president Donald Trump’s Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club on Friday in opposition to his choice to host a Saudi Arabia-sponsored golf tournament.

A group called 9/11 Justice, made up of more than 3,000 relatives of 9/11 victims, has also criticized professional golfers who have signed up for the LIV Golf tournament, which started on Friday. Golfing greats Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, and Brooks Koepka are among those who quit the PGA Tour in order to earn more money at the LIV tournament, which is sponsored by Saudi Arabia.

According to Juliette Scauso of 9/11 Justice, “How much money does it take to turn your back on your country?” was asked during a press conference. She continued, saying that for Trump and other well-known golfers competing in the tournament, “that amount of money is just a few hundred million dollars.”

We 9/11 families, she continued, “would give anything in the world to be reunited with our loved ones. To simply exchange one final hug, one final conversation, or one final round of golf.

Trump defended Saudi Arabia’s participation in the competition on Thursday. The former president responded, “Nobody’s gotten to the bottom of 9/11, unfortunately,” when asked by an ESPN reporter about the planned protests from 9/11 families.
