Former Arsenal midfielder David Hillier has stated that Jack Wilshere will not be returning to the club on a long-term basis. Mikel Arteta has offered the ex-Gunners star, 29, the chance to return to London Colney to train while he looks for a new club.

Following Arteta’s invitation, the two-time FA Cup winner stated that he will speak with Arsenal about accepting his offer. It sparked speculation that he could be offered a contract by the North London club, but club legend Hillier has ruled it out.

The 51-year-old, who joined Arsenal’s academy in 1984 before being sold to Portsmouth in 1996, claims Wilshere has no plans to return to the Emirates permanently. “I have inside information on this,” he said on the Highbury Squad Podcast,

. “I am a lucky man, because I am actually playing golf on Friday with a guy who installs all of his security systems at his house, and he is very friendly with him.”
