After a massive security breach that allowed iPhones to be HACKED without any user action, Apple releases an emergency software update.

APPLE released an emergency software update following the discovery of a major security flaw that allowed iPhones to be hacked without the user’s knowledge. After researchers discovered a system flaw that allowed spyware from a hacker-for-hire firm to directly infect the iPhone of a Saudi activist, a series of emergency security updates were released on Monday.

According to The Associated Press, researchers at the University of Toronto’s Citizen Lab said the security vulnerability affected all Apple operating systems. The researchers said it was the first time a zero-click exploit had been identified and analyzed. They discovered the unwanted code on September 7 and immediately contacted Apple.

The Israeli firm NSO Group is suspected of being behind the assassination of an unnamed activist. “Were not necessarily attributing this attack to the Saudi government,” researcher Bill Marczak said. “Although Citizen Lab has previously discovered evidence of zero-click exploits being used to hаck into the phones of аl-Jаzeerа journаlists аnd other tаrgets, this is the first time the exploit hаs been cаptured so we cаn leаrn how it works.” ”
