NEW YORK real estate heir, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of his best friend over two decades ago. A California judge handed down the sentence on Thursday to a multimillionaire who was convicted last month of murdering Susan Berman in 2000.

On Thursday, California judge Durst sentenced Robert Durst, 78, to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The 78-year-old is in poor health and has been fleeing the law since his wife Kathleen McCormack vanished in New York in 1982.

Durst was found guilty of first-degree murder in September after shooting Berman, 55, in the back of the head at point-blank range inside her Beverly Hills home in December 2000 as she was about to tell cops how she assisted in the cover-up of his wife Kathy Durst’s murder.

The jury also found him guilty of lying in wait and killing a witness under unusual circumstances.

Durst, who wаs wheelchаir-bound аt the time of his triаl, wаs portrаyed аs аn elite аnd а nаrcissist who believed he wаs аbove the lаw.
