Gabby Petito’s Father Asks for Help on the Anniversary of Finding Her Body

This article contains mentions of suicide.

The Tragic Disappearance of Gabby Petito

It has been two years since the body of Gabby Petito was tragically found, yet her father, Joe Petito, continues to ask for help from his followers. In a case that captivated the world, Gabby and her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, embarked on a cross-country road trip where Gabby suddenly went missing.

Gabby had regular communication with her parents, Joe Petito and Nicole Schmidt, but in September 2021, she went radio silent, causing great concern. Joe and Nicole became even more worried when they discovered that Laundrie returned home without Gabby and then disappeared again. During this turbulent time, Joe pleaded with the Laundrie family and the public for any information that could shed light on his daughter’s disappearance. On September 16, he made a heartfelt plea, saying, “What I need from everybody here is help because the goal is still not met, and that goal is to bring Gabby home safe.” Tragically, Gabby would not return home. On September 19, her remains were discovered, revealing that she had died from strangulation. It was believed that Laundrie was the one who killed her.

The Investigation and Tragic End

A nationwide manhunt for Brian Laundrie ensued after Gabby’s remains were found. In October 2021, Laundrie’s remains were also discovered, and it was determined that he had died by suicide. A notebook found with his body provided details on how he had killed Gabby. The investigation into the tragic case brought an end to two lives, leaving their families devastated.

Joe Petito’s Plea for Help

Over two years have passed since Gabby’s untimely death, but Joe Petito still seeks the help of the public. However, his plea has taken a different direction. Rather than seeking information about his own case, Joe is asking for assistance in bringing attention to other missing persons cases.

Joe Petito and Nicole Schmidt created the Gabby Petito Foundation, an organization that aims to raise awareness about missing persons and provide support for survivors of domestic violence. Through education, awareness, and prevention strategies, they hope to make a difference in the lives of others facing similar situations.

Using their Platform for Good

On the anniversary of the discovery of Gabby’s remains, Joe took to social media to share a photo of his daughter and remind the public of how they can help families in similar situations. Reflecting on the day he received the devastating news, Joe wrote, “We miss you every day. 2 years ago today we got the worst news a parent can get.” He continued, “While our pain will never go away, we can all help others who have loved ones missing. Please share a missing person flyer and spread awareness for the #missing #togetherwecan.” Despite enduring unimaginable tragedy, Joe is determined to use his family’s nightmare to bring attention to unsolved missing persons cases and make a positive impact.

Spreading Awareness and Sharing Hope

Joe Petito’s request for help goes beyond his own personal tragedy. By raising awareness of other missing persons cases, he hopes that the public can come together to support those in need. Sharing missing person flyers and spreading awareness are simple yet impactful ways that individuals can contribute to the search for missing loved ones.

No family should have to go through the anguish that the Petitos have endured. While they continue to grieve for Gabby, they are determined to make a positive difference through their foundation. Their hope is that, through education, awareness, and prevention, they can help prevent future tragedies and support those who have been affected by domestic violence and missing persons cases.
