Families will save hundreds of pounds on half-term vacations after the government announced that PCR tests for travelers will be phased out by the end of next week.

Beginning on October 24, fully vaccinated people entering England will only be required to take a single lateral flow test within 48 hours of their arrival.

Rather than relying on the NHS’s free lateral flow devices, travelers will need to book the test privately and show proof of booking before boarding their flight, train, or boat to the UK.

Once in the UK, they will need to send a photograph of their completed test to their private provider.

If it’s negative, they can go about their daily lives as usual; if it’s positive, they must self-isolate and request a PCR test from the NHS right away.
