Brown Jr., a former governor of Kentucky and KFC tycoon who wed Miss America and brought the Boston Celtics to the state, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at the age of 88. Brown Jr., a former Democratic governor of Kentucky from 1979 to 1983, was also well-known throughout the world for founding the KFC fast food chain.

The family posted a statement on Twitter that read, “He was a true Kentucky original who beamed with pride for his home state and its people.” They continued, “He had many notable achievements, but most of all, he loved his family with all of his heart, and we loved him in return with all of our hearts. Brown Jr. passed away as a result of numerous health issues brought on by Covid-19 complications that started in the summer of 2022.
