Raw fish was discovered in a washing-up bowl in an insufficiently cold refrigerator. Employees allegedly were unconcerned about the unsanitary conditions and “showed little understanding of the risk this may pose.” They told inspectors that their chippy was “acceptable.”

The company stated that while it agreed with Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council’s comments, it has made a number of improvements since the inspection on July 14.
