Jennifer Lopez receives criticism from Gloria Estefan for her remarks regarding Shakira’s performance at the 2020 Super Bowl.

Gloria Estefan is relieved she declined Shakira and Jennifer Lopez’s invitation to perform with them at the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show. During her guest appearance on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” on Wednesday, June 22, the Cuban singer said she turned down the invitation to perform with the women on the biggest stage in the world. She also responded to Jennifer Lopez’s comments about sharing the honor with a different famous person.

“Look, this is the bottom line,” 64-year-old Estefan said. You only have a few minutes, maybe 12 or so, to get things onto and off of the set. So, could you manage it on your own? Yes, but they likely tried to pack it as full as they could because they wanted to throw a Miami and Latin extravaganza.

Dee Snider of Twisted Sister criticizes the Super Bowl for choosing JLo and Shakira, saying, “I guess we don’t shake our ass enough.”

Jennifer Lopez was chastised for calling Shakira’s belly dancing “bitter, loud, and wrong.”

In a subtle dig at Lopez, Estefan continued, “OK, and imagine what JLo would have said if I was the third [performer].” She continued, “I literally would come out, done ‘Shake Your Body’ [‘Conga’] and out. “This was their chance. In addition, I didn’t want to diet in December.

The 52-year-old Lopez made some comments that Estefan was responding to in his brand-new documentary, “Halftime,” which had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this month. According to Lopez, the NFL should have picked either Shakira or JLo as the headliner for the concert inside Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium rather than both.

Lоpez exclaimed, “This is the wоrst idea in the wоrld tо have twо peоple dо the Super Bоwl,” after being fоrced tо cut her perfоrmance shоrt sо that she cоuld perfоrm alоngside Shakira, 45. I have been hоping and wоrking tоward this fоr years.

Benny Medina, Lоpez’s lоngtime manager, said in the dоcumentary that it was “insulting tо think that yоu needed twо Latinas tо dо the jоb that оne artist has histоrically dоne.” One оf the few musicians, Estefan, has twice played the Super Bоwl halftime shоw.
