VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA: Shocking Child Abuse Incident Outside Local Bar Leaves Community Stunned
On the night of September 14, residents of Volusia County, Florida, were left horrified and heartbroken after witnessing a distressing incident of child abuse unfold outside a popular bar. Two young women, Brianna Lafoe, 19, and Sierrah Newell, 20, have been accused of recklessly tossing an infant as if it were a plaything, with the potential to cause harm to the child’s arm.
The incident took place in the early hours of the morning outside the Coyote Ugly Saloon on Seabreeze Boulevard in Daytona Beach. According to a witness who recorded the ordeal, the two women, who appeared to be inebriated, were seen engaging in the inappropriate act of throwing the infant back and forth and even flipping the child upside down.
The arrest affidavit revealed that the baby was repeatedly and carelessly thrown between the two women, described as being similar to how one would handle a toy. The eyewitness, Jahada Rasheed, expressed her concern, stating, “She started throwing the baby up and down a little too aggressively.”
Law enforcement responded to reports of the appalling behavior and the infant was subsequently transported to Halifax Hospital. A medical examination revealed red marks on the baby’s back, and X-ray images suggested the possibility of a fractured arm.
Sierrah Newell and Brianna Lafoe were apprehended and are now facing charges of child abuse. Additionally, Lafoe has been charged with battery. Sierrah Newell, who was reportedly using crutches at the time of the incident, also allegedly issued threats to bystanders who attempted to intervene.
Disturbing security camera footage from a nearby establishment captured Brianna Lafoe holding the baby in an inverted position, shaking the child by its ankles. Despite not being present during the incident, the manager of Crazy John’s Recreational Cannabis, located alongside the bar, expressed profound distress upon viewing the footage, stating, “It really breaks your heart to see a little one go through something like that.”
The community of Volusia County is left shaken by this incident of child abuse, as the welfare and safety of children are of utmost importance. Authorities are working diligently to ensure justice is served, and the young women involved in this act of cruelty face the consequences of their actions.
It is crucial to remember that incidents like these are exceptions, and the vast majority of caregivers prioritize the well-being and nurturing of children. We must work together as a community to protect and support the most vulnerable members of society. Let us unite in condemning such acts of violence and continue to advocate for the safety and welfare of all children.
