Ryan Braun, the all-time home run leader for the Milwaukee Brewers and a six-time All-Star, announced his retirement on Tuesday, September 14. “I’ve decided to retire today, more than 14 years after I first took the field as a Milwaukee Brewer. While it’s impossible to sum up my feelings, the one thing that comes to mind is gratitude, ” Braun said in a statement. In a video message released by the club, Braun, 37, announced his retirement. “Ryan brought us many unforgettable moments on the field; from playoff-clinching, dramatic home runs to nearly 2,000 career hits, he is unquestionably one of the greatest players in Brewers history,” said Mark Attanasio in a statement on Ryan Braun’s retirement. “Ryan was the first player drafted after I took ownership of the Brewers, and I remember that day very well,” the statement continued. Today, we take a look back at Ryan’s impact during his 14 seasons with the Brewers. Ryan is our franchise’s all-time home run leader and one of the game’s best clutch hitters. Many of these moments defined some of the organization’s greatest achievements to date, and we were fortunate to have a front-row seat for many of them. We wish Ryan, his wife, Larisa, and their family nothing but the best as they embark on the next chapter of their lives, and we look forward to continuing our friendship with them. ”
