A metal detectorist in the U.K. has made an extraordinary discovery: two rare Roman swords that are almost 2,000 years old. The swords, believed to have been used by Roman cavalry, were found in the Cotswold District, along with their wooden scabbards and fitments. This remarkable find provides valuable insights into the history of the region during the Roman empire.
The Astonishing Find
Glenn Manning, a local man participating in a metal detectorist rally, stumbled upon the two Roman swords. Excited by his find, Manning also uncovered a copper alloy bowl. The artifacts date back to around 160 A.D., a time when the Roman empire was flourishing. The Cotswold District Council described the discovery as amazing.
