Dwayne Haskins, the quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, was killed by a dump truck in Florida on Saturday. Haskins, 24, was attempting to cross traffic lanes on foot when he was hit by the vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The NFL player’s reason for walking down the highway is unknown. Although a traffic homicide investigation has been launched, no additional details about the accident have been released.
Haskins died on the scene shortly after 6:30 a.m. The highway where the accident occurred, Interstate 595, was closed for several hours after the accident. “He was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of Interstate 595 when there was oncoming traffic,” said Indiana Miranda of the Florida Highway Patrol.
