Nigel Farage Finishes Third on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here
Nigel Farage, the former MEP, recently made headlines after finishing third on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here. The reality TV show, which aired its finale, saw Farage lose out to contestant Sam Thompson, a well-known star from Made in Chelsea. The former professional boxer Tony Bellew also made it to the final alongside Thompson and Farage. Despite not emerging as the winner, Farage expressed his thrill and gratitude, stating, “I’m absolutely thrilled, not everyone likes the stuff I’ve campaigned for and stood for over the years, but we are all entitled to an opinion and I’m a human being like anyone else. I hope this programme has shown I’m as human as anyone else.”
Public Appearance with Girlfriend
Mr Farage was met by his girlfriend, Laure Ferrari, after leaving the jungle, making their first public appearance together as they posed for the cameras. Laure Ferrari is a French politician who met Mr. Farage when she was working as a waitress in Strasbourg in 2007. She is 44 years old, 15 years younger than Mr. Farage, and the couple reportedly became romantically involved in 2017. Ferrari now works in politics and credits Mr. Farage for her choice of career path, after he helped her get a job in the European Parliament.
Farage’s Thoughts on the Show
Asked by Ant and Dec why he decided to enter the jungle, Mr. Farage said, “I had time to do it and I’m 60 next birthday and going to reach an age where you can’t do it. This is very physical, bringing buckets of water, doing the challenges, so now was the right time to do it and I’m very pleased I did. I did my best to show no fear at all in the challenges.”
Defending His Fee
Following the finale, Mr. Farage defended his £1.5m fee in an appearance on Monday’s Good Morning Britain. He justified the substantial paycheck by stating, “I gave up a very successful career in the city of London. My friends are on the rich list and I live a modest life, I gave it up for a career in politics. Is this the biggest paycheck I have ever had? Yes, what’s wrong with that?”
