Megyn Kelly and Chris Christie’s Heated Exchange at the GOP Debate

The fourth GOP debate on December 6 was marked by a fiery exchange between Megyn Kelly and Chris Christie. Kelly, alongside co-moderators Elizabeth Vargas and Eliana Johnson, found herself at the center of controversy as Christie expressed his frustration over the distribution of questions and airtime during the event. Just before heading into a break, Christie engaged in a heated exchange with fellow nominee hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy, calling him “the most obnoxious blowhard in America.” Following this altercation, Christie approached Kelly and appeared to unload on the former Fox News anchor. During an episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show” on December 7, Kelly revealed that Christie was upset at the distribution of questions and felt he was not getting enough time to speak, expressing his disappointment by saying, “I made it up at this stage, and I haven’t been able to speak in a while.”

Megyn Kelly’s Response to Chris Christie’s Outburst

In response to Christie’s outburst, Megyn Kelly defended her moderation, claiming she had assured Christie that he would receive more airtime in the second half of the debate. Kelly believed that Christie had been given an adequate opportunity to speak, especially considering his low popularity at the time, as she pointed out that he was polling at just 2%. She further emphasized her stance by stating, “I don’t want to hear it, frankly. We did right by him. He got a ton of airtime. That’s what he was mad about.” Kelly also touched on Christie’s low approval rating in comparison to Donald Trump’s, highlighting the stark difference in their respective ratings within the Republican party. Additionally, Christie’s dismay over the altercation with Vivek Ramaswamy added further tension to the debate and his overall experience.

Megyn Kelly’s Defense of Donald Trump and Past Clashes with Christie

Megyn Kelly’s support of Donald Trump has not gone unnoticed, particularly by Chris Christie. In the past, Kelly has come to Trump’s defense over comments made by Christie. This included a video clip of Trump mocking Christie’s weight, to which Kelly reacted by noting that Christie had criticized Trump far more harshly by referring to him as a criminal. Moreover, Kelly’s support for Trump during the first GOP debate, even though she wasn’t a moderator, stirred some controversy. Her alignment with Trump’s stance on certain issues has seemingly been a point of contention between her and Christie, culminating in their heated exchange during the fourth GOP debate.
